New Book Details All The (Until Now) Unknown and Obscure Places The “Boys” Shot Their Films
Author Jim Pauley spent 13 years of his life tracking down the often obscure locations where the 3 Stooges films were shot. Finding these locations was not always so easy, things in Los Angeles, as any native would tell you, change by the minute, much less after 60 or 70 years. Jim had another problem: he didn’t live in Los Angeles, he’s from Philly. And, he started his project years before the internet and Google were around to help. So he had to do it the hard way – research like heck back home, then come to L.A. on vacation once or twice a year and cram in some time pounding the pavement and knocking on doors. Don’t feel sorry for him though, it is his life long love affair with the 3 Stooges that sparks his interest and gave him the staying power for his quest, and he was adding immensely to the lore of those great comedians he so admired.
Now that the book has been published, Jim is having some fun showing it to fans around the country, making presentations, showing photos of the locations, and chatting with Stooges fans. New stories and new information shows up periodically. A “lost” stooges film was recently found overseas, called “Hello Pop” is now being restored by a major studio and should be released next year.
